Coaches
The coaches for the 2008 season are head coach Greg Soleau, assistant coaches Dave George, Kelly Schuiling and Lauren Emrich
Soleau
Greg Soleau – Head Coach (4th Season)
Originally from Jackson Michigan, Greg got his start in rowing in 1992 as a Freshman at Grand Valley State University where he rowed there for 4 years.  Among his accomplishments there was competing in the 1995 C.R.A.S.H. B sprints, as well as competing in the Temple Challenge Cup at the Royal Henley Regatta in England in 1996.  He’s been coaching rowing at various levels for 12 years and has coached programs at Forest Hills Central, Grand Valley State University, MSU Club, East Grand Rapids & the Grand Rapids Rowing Club.  Greg also has a Level 2 USRowing Coaching certification, and is also a licensed USRowing referee.











Dave George – Assistant Coach (4th Season)
Originally from Suttons Bay Michigan, Dave started rowing in 1993 at Grand Valley State University and continued to race for the Lakers until 1997.  His rowing accomplishments during that time included a 2nd place finish in the Men’s 8 at the 1997 Midwest Championships, 3rd place finish in the Men’s 8 at the 1997 Dad Vail Regatta, and 4th place finish in the Men’s 4 at the 1997 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta.  He competed in sculling events for the Grand Rapids Rowing Association from 1997-2001.  He has been coaching rowing for the past 11 years for programs at Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids Rowing Association, Grand Rapids City Crew, and Calvin College. 

Kelly Schuiling – Assistant Coach (3rd Season)
Kelly got her start in rowing at Rockford, where she rowed for three years.  She received a scholarship for rowing to Indiana University where she rowed for four years, three of those in the first varsity boat.  Among her accomplishments there was placing first and third at Midwest Championships, being named to the All Big Ten Second Team and being a two time CRCA National Scholar Athlete.  Kelly has been coaching rowing at various levels for 7 years and has coached programs at Rockford, Grand Rapids Rowing Club and Forest Hills Northern.  She is also USRowing Level 2 certified.
Lauren Emrich – Assistant Coach (1st Season)

Lauren got her start in rowing at Forest Hills Central where she was a member of the first ever womens crew team in the Forest Hills District.  She stayed with rowing through college as a coxswain for the University of Michigan Men’s Rowing program.  Post college she stayed active in rowing by being a coxswain and coach at The Rio Salado Rowing Club in Tempe Arizona.  She later joined the Lake Union Rowing Club where she coxed Women’s Senior 8+ to gold at the 2006 Head of The Charles.
